On occasion of #InternationalWolfDay, students, volunteers, locals, and stakeholders in Purandar united for a 2-day conservation event. At Panchakroshi Shetkari Tantrik Vidyalay, Waghapur, 300 students and teachers learned about grassland biodiversity, watched a grassland wildlife documentary, and discussed the need of plastic waste management to protect the Indian Grey Wolf. The next day, 30 students joined a cleanup in Saswad, removing litter, installing awareness signs, and addressing plastic ingestion, a threat confirmed by analysis of wolf scats with support of Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education & Research. Native grasses from a local nursery were also planted to restore habitat and emphasize the need to protect grasslands.
Supported by Maharashtra Forest Department, Rotary Club of Purandar, Purandar Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, and local communities.
